Company History

1960

Company Foundation

Mr. Alfred Schuster founded Schuster Elektronik on August 1, 1960 in Ritzmannshof (Fürth). At the beginning of the automation age, Mr. Schuster recognized the need of the constantly growing market for industrial measuring devices that could be integrated into production lines. This eliminated the need for laborious manual measurements and accelerated the production process. Initially, the engineer limited himself to pure design, but soon began manufacturing the devices himself. At first, Mr. Schuster still used the widely spread vacuum tube technology, as the development of first transistors was still in its early stages. With increasing demand, the young entrepreneur also created three new jobs. As one of the first devices, Mr. Schuster developed a gingerbread machine for the Gottfried Wicklein gingerbread factory in Nuremberg.

1964

Relocation to Schwaig

Schuster Elektronik relocates to Schwaig. The building offers enough space for the next seven years to accommodate both the Schuster family and the company. The first logic controllers are still built with relays. Semiconductor development continues to advance, and silicon planar transistors are increasingly used at Schuster Elektronik as well. However, these are initially still very susceptible to temperature fluctuations, which must be compensated for by more complicated and thus more extensive circuits.

1971

Relocation to Herzogenaurach

1971 Schuster Elektronik GmbH moves into its new buildings in Niederndorf (Herzogenaurach). The large hall provides sufficient space for the now 15 employees: There is a workshop for mechanics, an assembly room, a warehouse for the required components, a development and testing department as well as office spaces. The local newspaper Nordbayerische Nachrichten reports on the new company in Niederndorf.

1997

Gabriele and Armin Rech Take Over Company Management

Mr. Schuster hands over the management of the company to Gabriele and Armin Rech. The company founded by Alfred Schuster has developed over time into a healthy, medium-sized business thanks to creative visions and business integrity. With the new management also comes modernization to Schuster Elektronik: The era of CAD tools and standardized quality management begins. Schuster Elektronik is thus also equipped for the new millennium and can keep pace with the ever faster development of the electronic world.

1999

Surge Current System SA 611

With the development of the surge current system SA 611, a complete LabView-based operating program for a Schuster measuring device is realized for the first time. The operation of the menu-driven program (integrated into a Windows NT environment) is largely done by mouse and keyboard. It is used to control the measuring device, for measurement data acquisition and for visualization of measurements via a monitor. In addition, the program offers an interface to spreadsheet programs (e.g. MS-Excel). This allows entire measurement series of different test objects to be carried out and documented easily and without problems. This project is also the beginning of close cooperation between Schuster Elektronik and Data Ahead GmbH Nuremberg.

2004

TSM 664

With the development of the TSM 664, a test system for power semiconductors and power semiconductor modules is equipped with a voltage measuring range up to 8,000 volts for the first time. This extension of the measuring range is particularly used for reverse voltage measurement of IGBTs and diodes. A convenient measuring program allows the easy creation of measurement sequences up to result-dependent classification of the measurement objects.

2009

Dynamic Measuring Systems

Our product range is expanded to include 'Dynamic Measuring Systems', i.e. the dynamic properties of power semiconductors are tested. Building on the devices from George Kermez (Challenge Innovations, GB), systems up to 2000 V and 1000 A are available in a first step. With these, both single and multiple modules (e.g. half bridges, 3-phase bridges, etc.) can be tested. The determination of dynamic properties is carried out using the double pulse test on inductive load. The major project requires close cooperation of all participants; the extensive knowledge transfer challenges and promotes the development team.

2010

50th Company Anniversary

Schuster Elektronik GmbH can celebrate its 50th anniversary! Half a century of creative measurement technologies and procedures for electronic components and modules is celebrated appropriately. Even the Nordbayerische Nachrichten publishes an article about Schuster Elektronik. In addition, the development team moves into the new extension. There, each engineer now has more space and the warehouse in the old building can be expanded.

2011
